Chattanooga GME Organizational Chart
- Effective January 16, 2024, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and its Institutional Review Committee (IRC) again awarded Continued Accreditation for our institution (The University of Tennessee College of Medicine - Chattanooga)
based on the review of all our ACGME WebAds annual updates. We were also commended
for meeting all institutional accreditation standards without any citations.
- The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine - Chattanooga
is part of a statewide system of Graduate Medical Education with campuses in Memphis,
Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.
- The Primary Clinical Training Site and Major Affiliated Partner for our Medical Education Programs is Erlanger Health.
- The Chief Executive Officer of the UTHSC College of Medicine - Chattanooga is James W. Haynes, MD, MBA, FAAFP, Professor and Dean. There are two Executive Assistants to the Deans: Liz Jones and Chailah Sanchez.
- The Interim Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for our Chattanooga Campus is Andrea W. Goins, DO, who also serves as Chair of our Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC). She can be reached through

- A core Faculty of approximately 140 paid physicians is joined by more than 300 physicians
who volunteer their support and represent the major medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. In addition
to the Deans, Chairs, and Program Directors, the Chattanooga Campus is also supported
by 42 administrative staff, including Program Coordinators.
- The Chairs of the UTHSC College of Medicine-Chattanooga Departments report directly to our Dean and not to the chairs of corresponding departments at the main medical school campus
in Memphis.
- The Office of Research and our Institutional Review Board (IRB) also includes the IRB Administrator, Stacey Hendricks, CIMand the IRB Chair, Manoo Bhakta MD (423.778.3818).
- The Office of Undergraduate Medical Education is led by Dr. Karen Rogers, Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education, in
order to oversee and administer medical student and PA student programs for the UTHSC
College of Medicine. Administrative staff who support her in these efforts include:

- The Office of Graduate Medical Education is responsible for providing guidance and oversight to the Residency and Fellowship
programs for the UTHSC College of Medicine - Chattanooga:

- Our Graduate Medical Education Programs, in accordance with ACGME Institutional Requirements,
are overseen by a Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) that meets up to times per year (typically the 3rd Tuesday of each month with the
exception of December and June). As Interim DIO, Dr. Goins serves as Chair of the
GMEC.
- Most importantly, also integral to the success of our GME Programs are the teams of Program Directors and Coordinators.
