UTHSC Nursing: A Legacy of Leadership. A Career for Life.
With an outstanding national reputation earned over more than a century, the College of Nursing traces its history to 1898 and was the first College of Nursing in Tennessee. Housed in the resource-rich environment of an urban medical campus, the College of Nursing offers a highly-educated, research-oriented faculty with a focus on developing nursing leaders. The College currently offers a 12-month, second-degree accelerated BSN program, a traditional, four-semester BSN program, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with eight concentrations and three dual DNP concentrations. Our PhD in nursing is offered through the College of Graduate Health Sciences.

Students at LeMoyne-Owen College, Lane College, Dillard University, Rhodes College, UT Southern, Southwest Tennessee Community College, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Dyersburg State Community College, Arkansas State University Mid-South, and Sewanee, the University of the South are eligible for our Partnership Enrollment Programs.

In the magazine's third annual listing of BSN programs, the UTHSC College of Nursing is again the highest-ranked BSN program in Tennessee. The college ranked No. 31 among 656 schools.

The college's DNP program consistently ranks near the top of this important list of doctoral programs of nursing. For the current year, the college's DNP ranked No. 23.
