Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Emma Murray joined the University of Tennessee Health Sciences, College of Nursing Faculty in July 2014 as an Assistant Professor in the Advanced Practice and Doctoral Studies Department. She teaches in the Adult Gerontology-Acute Care Advanced Practice Programs. Dr. Murray received her Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing from East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City, Arkansas.

She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Nursing Science degree from The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, (UAMS) College of Nursing in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dr. Murray majored in Acute Care Nursing Practice with a minor in Nursing Education at UAMS College of Nursing. Dr. Murray earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Texas Christian University, (TCU) Harris College of Nursing, Fort Worth, TX in 2010. While attending TCU Dr. Murray participated in a two-week internship at the prestigious Joanna Briggs Research Institute in Adelaide, Australia.

Dr. Murray taught Medical Surgical and Mental Health Nursing at East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City, Arkansas for four years while working in the Arkansas State prison system as a part-time medical provider. She continues to work as a hospitalist and is responsible for evaluating and treating a large patient population of acute and chronically ill adult and geriatric patients with her provider. She maintains a Faculty Practice one day a week at a local hospital in the Memphis, area.

Dr. Murray has presented at both local and regional conferences on stroke, cardiovascular diseases and palliative Care. Dr. Murray was recently honored with the 2014 Outstanding Alumni award from East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City, Arkansas.
