Engagement Series 2020

As a UTHSC family, staying connected to each other is more important than ever. With working from home and talking with team members via Zoom, Human Resources has brought a fun and educational team together to share their experiences, stories, and provide advice for others who are facing this new normal.

This 13-week series will take place every Friday from 10:00 -10:30 am CST, May 15- Aug 14, 2020. All sessions will be recorded and available for viewing.

Session 1 (May 15, 2020)
Staying Connected during COVID-19: Transitioning from campus to couch, hobbies, and tips on having a new work/life balance. Presenters: Jackie Cotton, Executive Administrative Aide to the Vice Chancellor- Finance and Administration, Jean Perdicaris, Administrative Coordinator II to Vice Chancellor-AFSA, Tim Florence, Manager of ITS Instructional Services
Session 2 (May 22, 2020) 
We will chat with Holly Rounds, Director of Pediatrics, to discuss recent successes, team support/collaboration, strategies on balancing the workload, and advice for other teams.
Session 3 (May 29, 2020)
We will chat with Courtney Sievers, Assistant Dean of College of Dentistry, to discuss recent successes, team support/collaboration, strategies on balancing the workload, and advice for other teams.
Session 4 (June 5, 2020)
We will chat with Chief Berryhill and Deputy Chief Knight, Campus Police, to discuss recent successes, team support/collaboration, strategies on balancing the workload, and advice for other teams.
Session 5 (June 12, 2020)
We will chat with Lisa Aitken, Director of IT Customer Technology Support, to discuss recent successes, team support/collaboration, strategies on balancing the workload, and advice for other teams.
Session 6 (June 19, 2020)
We will chat with Edwin Jeffries, Superintendent of Custodial Services and Kim Moore Assistant Vice Chancellor of Facilities, to discuss recent successes, team support/collaboration, strategies on balancing the workload, and advice for other teams.
Session 7 (June 26, 2020)
We will chat with Ann Salina, Director of Enrollment Management to discuss recent successes, team support/collaboration, strategies on balancing the workload, and advice for other teams.
Session 8 (July 10, 2020)
Do’s and Don’ts of Virtual Interviewing: a discussion for interviewees and interviewers presented by HR.
Session 9 (July 17, 2020)
Virtual Onboarding and virtual Orientation: a discussion on our change in process based on the pandemic presented by HR.
Session 10 (July 24, 2020)
The New Post Hiring: a discussion on how best to facilitate interaction, communication, and expectations when working in a pandemic environment. This session is presented by HR.
Session 11 (July 31, 2020)
Team collaboration: Best practices and tools for remote projects and collaborations, building trust and clear communication, additional resources for engagement. This session will be presented by HR.
Session 12 (August 7, 2020)
Remote Tools and Technology: Presented by Lisa Hall, Executive Director of IT Business Productivity Solutions and Dennis Leber, Chief Information Security Officer with discussion around best resources for working remotely and how to maintain security in the age of COVID.
Session 13 (August 14, 2020)

Maintaining Work Life Balance: promoting resources and tips for UTHSC employees. Featured presenters: J. Lee Taylor, Director of Campus Recreation, Erin Jennings, Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, and Kathy Gibbs, Assistant Vice Chancellor of SASSI.
