Curriculum Vitae

Shelley Miller, a Memphis native, graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She returned to Memphis to a pursue a nursing degree at Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 2002. Upon graduation, she worked at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in the Emergency Department, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit as a bedside nurse.

While precepting new nurses, Dr. Miller realized her love for teaching. She pursued her Master of Science in Nursing degree with a concentration in Nursing Education at the University of Phoenix. She also served as a clinical educator at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital for the Intermediate Care Unit, Wound Care and in Pedi-flite. As a clinical educator, Dr. Miller was involved in simulation and served as a fellow for the Tennessee Simulation Alliance for two years.  She later attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration.

After graduation from UTHSC, she practiced at Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics where she helped start the Medical Management Program. Dr. Miller recently practiced at Methodist Minor Medical Centers, where she was co-founder of the Nurse Practitioner Practice Council. She served as adjunct faculty at UTHSC prior to joining as full-time faculty in February 2022.
