Curriculum Vitae  

Dr. Shakila Erby joined the University of Tennessee (UT) Health Science Center College of Nursing in December 2023 as an Assistant Professor in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. Dr. Erby completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2023 with a concentrated area of study in Nursing Administration and Education at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Erby received her master’s in nursing education in 2016 from Capella University and earned her BSN in 2009 from Baptist Health Sciences University.

Before joining the UT Health Science Center, she served as a clinical development specialist for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. She began her practice as a registered nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in the cardiac/pulmonary medical-surgical unit. She also served as a staff development specialist at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis, igniting her passion for teaching. Her additional professional experience includes geriatrics and nursing leadership and her extensive background as an acute-care nurse educator. Her teaching responsibilities at the college include clinical supervision and didactic instruction in the BSN program. She is also the Instructor of Record for Nursing Concepts I.

 Dr. Erby is a member of the American Nurses Association and the Tennessee Nurses Association. She was also inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Gamma Eta Chapter in 2023.
