Dr. Ja’Quay Brister joined the UTHSC College of Nursing in July 2023 to teach in the Psychiatric Mental Health concentration of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Dr. Brister teaches Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care in Advanced Pediatric Nursing, and Psychiatric Mental Health Assessment Strategies.
Dr. Brister received her DNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) in 2018 from the UTHSC College of Nursing. She earned a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) from Union University in 2013.
Dr. Brister is currently a member of the American Nurses Association, the Tennessee Nurses Association, and NEI. Her nursing practice includes seven years of experience at various locations in Memphis. These include Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where she worked as a staff nurse and charge nurse on the Ortho/Heme Unit, and Crestwyn Behavioral Health, where she worked as a mental health nurse. She also served as the prior authorization and staff nurse for the ULPS Le Bonheur Neurology Clinic. Dr. Brister is a Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, practicing with One TeleMed Behavioral Health.
