Six AFSA team members complete a Customer Service and Relations Certificate program
April 28, 2022
Six AFSA team members, Kimberly Abston, Megg Doolin, Delores Johnson, Anna Norris, Alicia Sanders, and Shanta Hampton recently completed the Customer Service and Relations Certificate program.
This five week certificate course was sponsored by Human Resources and encompassed five major areas: Foundations of Customer Relations and Communication, Overcoming Challenging Communication, Communication Styles, Active Listening, and Unspoken Interactions in the Workplace.
Both Delores and Alicia work evenings and weekends in the library assisting everyone at all hours as well as continually providing faultless customer service. Here are comments expressed by them re: this certificate program.
Delores: “I always want to enroll in any training that will offer me opportunity to make me a better frontline impression for the campus (library) overall. The course is well organized and gives you a chance to interact with other fellow employees around campus. The main thing that I try to remember is to consider both sides of communication with others and listening is a key to better communication. Everyone can benefit from the course.”
Alicia: “The best takes for me were the communication styles. I am a talker - once I get to work. The class has made me feel not ignored and given me understanding toward my co- workers. I also enjoyed the active listener cues to practice. I wish this were taught to me in college or at an in- service activity.”
Thank you, Delores, Alicia, Kimberly, Megg, Anna, and Shanta for embracing customer support, an integral characteristic of AFSA employee success!
