The Office of Academic Affairs
The mission of the Office of Academic Affairs is to support the mission of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center by assuring compliance with all accreditation standards and state requirements and to provide support to colleges with new program development.
What is Academic Affairs?
Among the duties and responsibilities of Academic Affairs are the establishment and monitoring of policies that affect academic programs and academic initiatives including assisting the colleges with development of new programs to insure they meet accreditation and state standards. The office also manages required and requested reporting to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC), and the University of Tennessee System offices.
Academic Affairs Functions
- Reviews all accreditation documents for programmatic and national accrediting agencies
- Assists colleges with new program development and academic issues that require reporting to THEC and/or SACSCOC
- Maintains the Approved Program Inventory
- Oversees the Office of Institutional Research and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness
