NEW HIRE Porshá Toney, new to AFSA, not to education.
Porshá Toney joined AFSA on December 12th, 2022 as the Executive Admin to Dr. Russell. In this position she will provide executive support to Dr. Russell and the AFSA team.
Porshá is originally from Memphis. After obtaining her Bachelor of Communications and Masters of Science in Psychology she went on to work in elementary and lower secondary education for 10 years! Porshá knows many people who work at uthsc and had long heard of their positive and successful work experiences. After hearing about how invested the faculty and staff are in students’ success here at UTHSC, she was motivated to join the team.
Porshá enjoys forming different relationships. She is a proponent of positive workplace atmosphere and working with a positive team. Porshá is also eager to learn and to bring her skills and knowledge to the table in higher education. She is passionate about the generations to come after us and how we can better invest in educational opportunities that prepares them for the outside world.
In her down time Porshá loves being a new dog mom! She said:
“I love my Yorkie-Poo (Yorkie and Poodle mix) named Kilo, who brings me so much joy to my world. He’s only 7 months so he’s super active, but he’s literally the best little companion to have.”
