Lela Coleman – The GEB’s newest Senior Laboratory Technician.

Lela Colman joined AFSA on October 17, 2022. As a Senior Laboratory Technician Lelais responsible for staging and de-staging labs.

Born and raised in Memphis, Lela’s personal and professional journey has been centered around contributing to the medical world of this city. She received an AAS in Medical Technology from Shelby State Community College, followed by a BPS in in Organizational Leadership from the University of Memphis, and a ASCP Certification. Lela has been a Medical Lab Technician for more than 20 years in both clinical research and trials settings. Now her goal is to explore new opportunities in her field. She says:

“After many years in the clinical lab I desired to evolve in my career to focus on research, and now, helping to educate future Medical Technologist.”

Lela looks forward to helping the student learn the skills needed to be successful in the various lab disciplines. She is passionate about family and empowering women to embrace their female energy. In her downtime Lela enjoys traveling, decorating and word puzzles.
