Although Jennifer is a newly hired academic technology consultant with the Teaching & Learning Center (TLC), she has been with UTHSC for 14+ years. Most of those years, she was a fixture in the College of Pharmacy (COP). With two degrees from the University of Memphis, a bachelor’s in Organizational Leadership and master’s in Training and Development, Jennifer’s professional journey began as a litigation paralegal. Eventually, she accepted an administrative role in COP. Jennifer is a self-motivated learner and, as such, trained herself on higher education processes and technology which saw her rise through the COP ranks as an administrative assistant, academic affairs coordinator, educational technology specialist, and curriculum coordinator. In her TLC role, she provides instruction, coaching, and customized support to faculty in the area of academic technologies that promote student learning and success. Additionally, Jennifer looks forward to engaging in collaborative learning cultures with faculty, staff, and, above all, students. During Jennifer’s tenure on campus, she’s been known to say that it takes a committed village to witness successful graduates, and she considers it a privilege to be part of that committed village.
One fun fact about Jennifer is that she is a certified Star Achievement facilitator. Since 2015, when Star Achievement has been offered at UTHSC, Jennifer can boast she’s spearheaded close to 70 UTHSC administrative professional employees through this 9 month philosophy-based elite training program that provides participants a hands on combination of skill, attitude, teamwork, and strategy. Those attributes are delivered and experienced through real world simulations such that one may realize his/her own full potential to be a star performer at work...and at life. Many of AFSA’s admin staff have benefitted from her talents through this innovative professional development program.
Jennifer is passionate about faith, family, community, education, and assisting others. She is zealous about journaling! For Jennifer, writing “it” down allows her to take inventory of contributions, frustrations, and responses. It frees her to write a different narrative every time as well as reset and begin again. She encourages each of us to do similarly, and that it only requi
