AuD - Clinical Doctorate in Audiology
Our nationally ranked Doctor of Audiology degree program (AuD) is located in Knoxville, Tennessee and is administered by the UTHSC College of Health Professions. The AuD degree program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. At UTHSC, AuD students are trained to become outstanding and successful audiologists.
Last year, 100% of our graduates passed the national praxis examination and, since 2013, have had 100% job placement after graduation. Our AuD graduates are widely sought by employers nationwide in a variety of settings due to the program’s reputation of clinical and academic excellence. See more student achievement data.
The AuD program consists of 11 semesters of full-time enrollment during which students receive intense academic and clinical training. Our curriculum is taught by over 17 clinical and academic faculty with expertise in all areas of audiology. Academic coursework is coupled with clinical practicum each semester; however, semesters six, nine, ten and eleven are dedicated to full-time clinical experience. Students receive clinical training in a variety of on-campus and off-campus clinics that allow them to meet all KASA standards and exceed the minimum number of required clinical hours. UTHSC provides clinical experiences to AuD students via our on-campus clinics. AuD students also receive clinical experiences in a variety of settings in the Knoxville area such as private practices, physician offices, hospitals, and school systems. Throughout the program, all students receive academic and clinical advising from an experienced faculty member. To graduate from the program, students must pass all academic and clinical coursework, complete a directed research project, and pass a qualifying and a comprehensive exam.
The AuD program offers a limited number of scholarships and awards to students. Scholarships and awards are granted based on academic merit and clinical performance following a minimum of one semester in the AuD program.
