Postgraduate Dental Education
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Dentistry offers postgraduate dental education programs in Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontology and Prosthodontics. These programs prepare dentists for specialty practice and satisfy the educational requirements of their respective specialty boards.
A Certificate of Proficiency is awarded following successful completion of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics and Pediatric Dentistry programs. Both a Certificate of Proficiency and a Master of Dental Science degree are required and awarded upon successful completion of the Orthodontics, Periodontology and Prosthodontic programs. A course of study leading to a Master of Dental Science degree can be arranged in Endodontics and the Pediatric Dentistry Program.
Other postgraduate programs may be provided in special circumstances, including postdoctoral fellowships and other special course work for non-degree and non-certificate students.
