Student Loan Forgiveness

While Chattanooga is the fourth largest city in Tennessee, the federal government has designated Chattanooga as a partial county MUA (Medically Underserved Area). Because of the this designation and the non-profit designation of both the UTHSC and the clinical campus (Children's Hospital at Erlanger and Erlanger Health Systems), residents in training can count their time during residency towards their PSLF, should they qualify.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)

PSLF has many eligibility requirements that are unique the individual resident. UTHSC as an employer and Children's Hospital at Erlanger as a clinical site meet the requirements for PSLF.

Tennessee Center for Health Workforce Development

Do you have a desire to practice rural pediatrics in Tennessee? Check out the TCWD's Resident Incentive Program that can pay you up to $35,000 per year on top of your resident salary!

TCWD also provides funding for travel related expenses for rural pediatrics elective rotations in Tennessee during residency for those who qualify.
