PhD and Masters Programs
The UTHSC Biomedical Sciences Graduate Programs offer Doctor of Philosophy and Master's degrees, granted through the UTHSC College of Graduate Health Sciences, in four separate areas; Biomedical Sciences, Epidemiology, Biomedical Engineering, and Pharmacology.
The Biomedical Sciences Program is run through the UTHSC College of Medicine Basic Science Departments and our partners at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The Biomedical Sciences Program has seven separate Doctor of Philosophy tracks: Cancer and Developmental Biology; Molecular and Translational Physiology; Microbiology, Immunology, and Biochemistry; Pharmacology, Addiction Science, and Toxicology; Neuroscience; Genetics, Genomics and Informatics; and Regenerative and Rehabilitation Sciences.
The Department of Pharmacology also offers an accelerated (11 months) Master’s degree in Pharmacology.
The Epidemiology Program is run through the UTHSC College of Medicine Department of Preventive Medicine, and offers a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and a Certificate in Clinical Research Program.
The Biomedical Engineering Program is run jointly through the UTHSC College of Medicine Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Department and the University of Memphis Department of Biomedical Engineering, and offers both Doctor of Philosophy and Master’s degrees.
