Continuing Medical Education (CME) is part of the strategic plan at the University of Tennessee and an integral part of the College of Medicine. We are committed to improving healthcare by providing learning experiences that enhance the knowledge, competence, performance, and patient outcomes of Tennessee physicians and other healthcare professionals at the local, state, regional and national levels.

The University of Tennessee is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Statewide, the College of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education has locations in Memphis, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.

Mission

The Offices of Continuing Medical Education at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine campuses in Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Memphis are committed to fostering quality healthcare by providing lifelong learning that promotes change, development, and improvement to strengthen the skills and knowledge of not only Tennessee physicians and allied healthcare professionals within our institution, but an expanded shared knowledge with other healthcare providers at the local, state, and regional levels.

Purpose

UTCOM provides high-quality, evidence-based educational opportunities that are designed to enhance patient care for the citizens of Tennessee through continuing medical education (CME) efforts that promote lifelong learning for physicians.   UTCOM CME activities will assist physicians in increasing their proficiency and ability to produce measurable results in competence, enhanced practice performance, and improved patient outcomes.
