Office of Continuing Medical Education

Continuing Medical Education (CME) is part of the strategic plan at the University of Tennessee and an integral part of the College of Medicine. We are committed to improving healthcare by providing learning experiences that enhance the knowledge, competence, performance, and patient outcomes of Tennessee physicians and other healthcare professionals at the local, state, regional and national levels.

The University of Tennessee is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Statewide, the College of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education has locations in Memphis, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.

1,483 Hours of CME Instruction
to 26,138 Physician Learners
and 8,511 Non-Physician Learners
 
across 95 CME activities.

Mission

The mission of the Offices of Continuing Medical Education (CME)  is to generate educational actvities that produce (expected results) improvements to our learners' competence, performance, and/or patient outcomes.

Purpose

The UTCOM is committed to improving patient care outcomes for the citizens of Tennessee through continuing medical education efforts that promote lifelong learning for physicians. CME activities at the UTCOM will assist physicians in increasing their knowledge and skills to enable measurable results to occur in competence, performance, and patient care outcomes.
