Melanoma and Skin Cancers
To provide the most advance tertiary treatment options for patients, The UTHSC Cancer Program Melanoma and Cutaneous Malignancy Group has brought together a team of experts to provide sophisticated multidisciplinary care. New patients are discussed in a collaborative fashion with all the treatment disciplines. Physicians participating in national treatment guideline formation and ongoing research trials, consider each case carefully and UTHSC dermatopathologists are available for review of the pathology of the primary lesions. Surgeons specializing in the treatment of melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies provide the most current surgical interventions including sentinel lymph node mapping and biopsy as well as isolated limb infusion and intralesional therapies. Collaboration with plastic and reconstructive surgeons, as well as oculoplastic ophthalmology, provides the best possible cosmetic results post resection. When systemic therapy or radiation is required, our medical oncologists have access to the most current immunotherapies and systemic treatment options and our radiation oncologist can provide the highest level of radiotherapy interventions. Additionally, the UTHSC Department of Ophthalmology Department is a national center for the treatment of ocular melanoma with highly skilled surgical and radiotherapy treatments.
