Compliments and Complaints

Public Notice

The Campus Police Department at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is scheduled for a site-based assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

As part of the assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session June 11, 2019 at 3:30 pm. The session will be conducted in the Schreier Auditorium at the Student-Alumni Center, 800 Madison Avenue.

Agency employees and the public are also invited to offer comments by calling (901) 448-5710 on June 11 between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 pm. Comments will be taken by the assessment team.

Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session, are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA's standards. A copy of the standards is available at Campus Police Headquarters, 740 Court Avenue. The local contact is Sergeant Joanne Morrow, (901) 448-5679.

To submit written comments about the campus police department's ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia, 20155 or email .

Members of the UTHSC Police Department are committed to providing high quality police services to our community. Appreciation for a job well done and constructive comments assist us in recognizing Department members for their performance and helps improve delivery of services and achievement of goals.

A compliment or complaint can be made at any time by letter, telephone, in person or by submitting an email. Any on-duty supervisor can accept your comments. Your comments are forwarded to the Chief of Police for review and (in cases of formal complaints) assignment for investigation. On complaints, the complainant will be contacted by a supervisor as soon as possible to discuss the complaint and receive additional information on the investigative process.
