Elise C. Moore Scholarship
The Elise C. Moore Scholarship was established in honor of her retirement from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Elise began her distinguished career with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1973 as principal secretary in the Department of Radiation Oncology. During her time at UTHSC, she supported the College of Medicine Student Affairs department, College of Graduate Health Sciences, and University Relations, and recruited students for enrollment at UTHSC and participation in summer enrichment programs. She worked her way up from Coordinator in Health Career programs to management positions in Special Events and Community Affairs.
Elise was always known as a great team player, a strong advocate for community involvement, and especially for her extraordinary commitment to student success. She was the second recipient of the Chancellor’s Exempt Staff Award for her outstanding service and significant contributions to the University community. Elise generously led the University Food Bank and United Way campaigns for the institution and served as an advisor for the Black Student Association (BSA). To her fellow colleagues and students, Elise was known to have a smile on her face and a perpetual habit of saying YES to any request made of her. Elise C. Moore retired on June 29, 2018 after forty-four years of commendable dedication to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Scholarship Criteria: The Elise C. Moore Scholarship Fund is available for award to students enrolled at any college on our campus. Applicants must demonstrate successful academic performance, and preferred recipients will be active members of the Black Student Association, which is interdisciplinary and open to all UTHSC students regardless of ethnic background, discipline or other affiliation.
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the BSA gratefully acknowledge the generosity of Dr. Kennard D. Brown and the gifts of others in establishing the Elise C. Moore Scholarship.
