Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Nursing invites applications for the full time position of Pediatric Pulmonology Nurse Practitioner in the Acute & Tertiary Care Department.

UTHSC embraces four missions: education, research, clinical care and institutional service. Responsibilities for this role include 95% clinical components, functioning collaboratively with physician leadership of the Pediatric Pulmonology Department, with special focus on technology-dependent patients. The division is seeking a highly motivated APRN with experience in chronic ventilation/ technology-dependent care to help build and develop infrastructure for the program.

Responsibilities will include: consultative inpatient support for chronic vent/technology-dependent inpatients in IMCU and NICU under the supervision of the attending physician; outpatient support in clinic including patient co-management, coordination with DME and pharmacy and education, under direct supervision of the attending physician; coordination of respiratory care for mutual patients with MDA clinic and orthopedics; outpatient monitoring of patients between clinic visits; clinical responsibilities will be reassessed over the development of the position. In addition, 5% educational responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair.

Minimal requirements for the position include: a current RN and APN license in Tennessee, completion of a master's degree or higher in a nursing specialty demonstrated through national specialty certification as a nurse practitioner. All degrees must be from an accredited program. Current DEA certification and three (3) years of clinical practice experience at the RN level. Candidate must have the ability to react quickly to emergency situations; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Academic rank will be commensurate with credentials and experience.
