Meet the Associate Vice Chancellor
Chandra Alston was named associate vice chancellor for Human Resources in January 2014 as the result of a national search. Alston has a BS in marketing from UT Martin, an MBA in management from Union University, and is a doctoral candidate at the University of Memphis.
Employed with the university for 14 years, she has previously worked as the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration in the Colleges of Allied Health and Nursing, as the interim assistant director in Human Resources, as a technical trainer and Blackboard administrator in the Office of Information Technology, and as the training administrator in the Office of Equity and Diversity.
Alston plans to lead Human Resources with a focus on service and responsiveness to institutional, market and environmental forces. In initial meetings with faculty and staff a list of key priorities is being developed and maintained for the Human Resources Department to address. This priority list will be updated to provide a meaningful and measurable way for our constituents to view major initiatives and progress. In addition, a strategic plan that focuses on the major areas of Human Resources is in the development phase to guide the departmental vision and outcomes.
The Human Resources Department is full of talented individuals with the experience and desire to partner with employees, department heads and leaders to create a workplace where we maximize the potential of each contributor to the UT Health Science Center vision. So how do we partner? Human Resources will engage vice chancellors, deans, department heads, faculty and staff to determine what our office can do to support the attainment of your goals and objectives. We welcome your suggestions, comments and feedback. You are a vital part of our success!
