Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Dentistry, seeks nominations and applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Restorative Dentistry. This position will be at the Associate or Professor level, on the tenure or non-tenure track. The College of Dentistry seeks candidates whose experience in teaching, research, and service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to being an exceptional leader in dental education.

The Chair will provide vision, focus, and mentorship to further develop a dynamic and growing department. Other duties will include administrative responsibilities, such as departmental planning and budgeting; staffing and supervision; plus departmental representation to the College of Dentistry, the Health Science Center, and the Community. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Dentistry.

Minimum Requirements: Qualified applicants must possess a D.D.S./D.M.D. degree and meet eligibility requirements for a Tennessee dental license or educational faculty license. The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualities: excellent communication skills and administrative experience; demonstrated vision and creativity with regard to dental education and health care delivery; highly developed academic leadership capabilities and outstanding academic credentials meriting appointment at the rank of associate or full professor; experience working with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body. The candidate must have actively taught full time as a Course Director within the Departments of Restorative Dentistry or Prosthodontics, or a comparable department relative to Operative Dentistry in the pre-clinical and clinical setting.

Preferred qualifications:
-Experience in the procedures and/or protocols for the following dental licensures (SRTA, CITA, ADEX)
-Completion of GPR or AEGD program from a CODA accredited school
-Private Practice, Community Dentistry, or Public Health experience as a practicing dentist
-Advanced degrees such as PhD, MHA, MPA, MSD, MDS, MBA, or Masters in (such as Operative/Restorative/General Dentistry)
