Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) and TriMetis Life Sciences (TriMetis) have collaborated, on behalf of the Memphis Research Consortium (MRC), for a jointly appointed pre-clinical toxicologist. Currently, we are seeking to fill this joint appointed role of a pre-clinical toxicologist in Memphis, TN. Duties/Responsibilities include:
Professor at UTHSC ? 50%
? Teach students in UTHSC educational programs
? Recruit and assist faculty colleagues at UTHSC and University of Memphis in developing collaborative projects with TriMetis that utilize the specialized GLP laboratory/large animal vivarium
? Publish peer-reviewed studies based on work done in the TriMetis facility
? Conduct independent or collaborative research
? Submit for external funding for research and contracts
? Serve as a faculty resource and expert in regulatory pre-clinical studies

Director of Research at TriMetis Life Sciences ? 50%
? Work with customers to develop, support and conduct contract research within a broad spectrum of medical device and pharmaceutical products including therapeutic proteins, biologics, biomaterials, implantable devices, renal dialysis therapies, novel drug formulation and delivery technologies, safety assessment, and other research/testing necessary to submit data to regulatory agencies
? Provide diagnostic services and consultation with laboratory customers
? Assist in the sales process related to new and existing projects for pharmaceutical, biotech and medical

Preferred Qualifications:
? PhD in a relevant biological science, and/or a DVM or MD
? Doctorate degree & at least 3 years of post doctoral scientific experience
? Post-doctoral research experience in toxicology, or another relevant specialty discipline
? PhD and/or post-doctoral research in a discipline of interest to UTHSC and TriMetis (e.g. Toxicology, Molecular/Cellular biology, Immunology, Endocrinology, Biochemistry, Physiology, or Pathology)
? 8+ years of academic and/or industry experience in nonclinical drug development, device, or product demonstrating a sustained record of achievement and the ability to understand translational biology
? Board certification in toxicology
? Excellent verbal and written communications skills
? Experience resolving scientific problems through the establishment of novel protocols
? The ability to critically evaluate, interpret and integrate large datasets and literature
? An understanding of cutting-edge science and technology employed to enhance the investigation of drug candidate safety liabilities
? The ability to work independently, build productive cross-functional collaborations, manage conflict, multi-task, and prioritize
? Demonstrated learning agility, resilience, teamwork skills, and leadership skills
? Interest and ability to serve as a subject matter expert in a specific discipline
? Experience interacting with regulatory agencies
