Description: The New York Academy of Medicine is pleased to announce the competition for The Glorney-Raisbeck
Medical Student Grants in Cardiovascular Research. The grants are awarded to MD candidates
who are either enrolled in a New York-area medical school or plan to conduct research
at a New York-area institution, to pursue summer basic or clinical research projects

Title: UTHSC Department of Otolaryngology Summer Research Fellowships
Description: The program provides motivated UT medical students that would like to pursue a career
in Otolaryngology to work directly with our residents and faculty on various clinical
trials, clinical research, and basic science projects under the supervision of an
established mentor and mentorship committee with the goal of enhancing the research
training experience at UT and developing a pool of potential physician scientists.
We also have opportunities for fellows to shadow our surgeons in both the clinic and
the operating room. Fellows are encouraged to attend all resident teaching conferences,

Title: American Academy of Neurology Medical Student Summer Research Scholarship
Description: The scholarship program offers members of SIGN a stipend of $3,000 to conduct a mentored,
neuroscience-based research project in either an institutional, clinical, or laboratory
setting where there are ongoing programs of research, service or training, or a private
practice. Only applicants from schools with established SIGN chapters are eligible
to apply. The AAN will award up to 20 scholarships to medical students with limited
research experience relevant to clinical or neuroscience fields who have a supporting
preceptor and a project with clearly defined goals. Note: The program is not intended
for medical students with an extensive background in research. Therefore these students
should not apply. The project is to be conducted through a U.S. or Canadian institution
of the student's choice and jointly designed by the student and sponsoring institution.

Title: Naval Research
Description: The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP), provides an opportunity
for students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during
the summer. The goals of the NREIP are to encourage participating students to pursue
science and engineering careers, to further education via mentoring by laboratory
personnel and their participation in research, and to make them aware of DoN research
and technology efforts, which can lead to employment within the DoN. NREIP provides
competitive basic and translational research internships to approximately 275 college
students (200 undergraduate students and 75 graduate students) each year. Participating
students spend ten weeks during the summer conducting research at approximately 21
DoN laboratories.

Description: FAER created the Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship to encourage talented

Description: The David E. Rogers Student Fellowship Award is meant to enrich the educational experiences

Title: West Tennessee Regional Forensic Center Medical Student Preceptorship in Forensic
Pathology
Description: The program provides UT medical students considering a career in forensic
medicine to: (1) to gain in depth experience in normal gross anatomy with daily participation
in autopsies at the Center; (2) study aspects of human disease in a “real world” environment,
including natural disease processes as well as unnatural deaths (homicides, suicides,
accidents); and (3) as time and interest allow, students will be encouraged to attend
at least one death scene under the guidance of one of the Center’s death investigators.
Each student will, under the guidance of a preceptor, be expected to carry to completion
a small work of scholarship that will culminate at a minimum in a poster presentation
worthy of presentation at a national meeting.

Title: Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training (MHIRT)
Description: The MHIRT program at CBU provides international research training opportunities to
qualified undergraduate, graduate, and medical students from socially or economically
disadvantaged groups who have been historically underrepresented in biomedical and
behavioral research careers. This program offers summer research sites in Brazil and
Uganda. MHIRT students engage in research related to: biomedical science, behavioral
science, environmental science, carnivore conservation, and/or public health. MHIRT
is a paid internship. All expenses relative to travel, room and board, preparation,
and workshops are paid. In addition, students receive a monthly stipend. Preference
is given to students from participating schools within the Coalition and from the
Mid-South Region; however, any US citizen or permanent resident may apply.
