COVID-19 Laboratory Testing Webinar

Laboratory testing in the time COVID-19

Knowing who is infected, who is immune and who is susceptible to COVID-19 is an important key to conquering the most dangerous pandemic in a century.

Dependable test results can guide us toward re-opening normal social and economic interactions. The Department of Diagnostic and Health Sciences at the College of Health Professions is hosting a panel of experts in the field in a timely webinar on the role of laboratory testing in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schedule and Topics

Attendees will learn general information about the Coronavirus (CoV) family especially SARS-CoV-1, MERSCoV and SARS-CoV-2 (causative agent of COVID-19). The webinar will cover previous outbreaks, geographic parameters, and the morbidity/mortality of each. Current statistics using the Johns-Hopkins/WHO epidemiologic tracking map will be highlighted. All aspects of testing including specimen collection, methodologies and an overview of current FDA and Emergency Use Authorized (EUA) tests will be briefly covered.
