Dr. Madlock-Brown Receives NIH Grant

Dr. Madlock-Brown, Assistant Professor in the Department of Diagnostic and Health Sciences, has been awarded a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for a project on Data-Driven Identification of Costly Multi-Morbidity Groupings and their Progression in the amount of $435,338. Congratulations!

The Role of Laboratory Testing in the COVI-19 Pandemic Webinar

More than 300 people joined a free webinar hosted by the Department of Diagnostic and Health Sciences in the College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Wednesday on “The Role of Laboratory Testing in the COVID-19 Pandemic.” The webinar for health care professionals and the community featured a panel of experts in laboratory sciences, who spoke on the heightened importance of laboratory testing in this pandemic. Department of Physical Therapy Updates

  • Three graduates from the DPT Class of 2020 have been accepted to orthopedic residencies at University of Texas, Massachusetts General Hospital and PT Solutions in Asheville, North Carolina.
  • The DPT faculty developed and launched 15 interactive case studies for the DPT class of 2020 using Zoom to further enhance clinical decision making skills and for board preparation. They have also conducted several virtual town halls to meet with the DPT classes of 2020, 2021, 2022 and the upcoming class of 2023 to connect, collaborate and share updates. Dr. Shannon Hughes has initiated social media engagement by highlighting alumni who are working on the front lines.
  • N95 masks were donated to a local community partner hospital. Dr. Hughes made several face masks to a community partner hospital.
  • Marie Hatten developed virtual labs to deliver Therapeutic Exercise content to the DPT class of 2022.
