Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Jami Brown is an assistant professor in the UTHSC College of Nursing. She joined the College of Nursing faculty in June 2012. Her teaching responsibilities include providing both clinical supervision and didactic instruction within the BSN/M programs. She teaches Acute Care and Adult Health. She is also an instructor in the DNP Leadership and Health Policy course. In addition, she supervises students in clinical supervision in Acute Care, Adult Health, and Internship.

Dr. Brown received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Mississippi, in 2002, a Master of Science in Nursing degree focusing on Nursing Education from Regis University, Denver Colorado, in 2006, and a Doctor of Health Education degree from A. T. Still University, Kirksville Missouri, in 2009. Dr. Brown has been a registered nurse (RN) since 2002 and a nurse educator since 2010. Her 14 years of experience within the nursing profession includes a background in the areas of critical care and dialysis nursing. Her research interests include: renal disease, HIV/AIDS, competency of nurses, and healthcare disparities.

Dr. Brown holds national certification as a certified nephrology nurse (CNN). In addition, she is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Association, Association of Black Nursing Faculty, American Nephrology Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses. And the National League of Nursing.

Dr. Brown received the Student Government Association Executive Council (SGAEC) Excellence in Teaching Award (2014) and (2017).

She serves on various committees in the college, community, and national organizations.
