UHS has a medical provider on call during the hours the clinic is closed. Call 901.541.5654 for the health care provider on call and leave a message with the answering service. If you have an emergency, go to a hospital emergency room. Methodist University Healthcare Hospital at 1265 Union Ave. (901.516.8197) is available for general emergency care. For traumas, burns as well as other emergencies, care is available at Regional One Medical Center. The Trauma entrance is at 877 Jefferson Ave.

 

Have the staff notify University Health Services of your visit. Show your insurance card to the nurse in the emergency room. You will be responsible for the cost of health care during the closing times of University Health.

If you are on campus, Campus Police will provide emergency transportation for students on campus when it is needed. CALL 901.448.4444. Tell them you need to go to the emergency room. Give your name, your telephone number, and your location. Campus Police will come as soon as possible.

If you are off campus, dial 911. 

Several ambulance services are available in the city. Call 901.458.3311 for City Ambulance Service. Persons are responsible for the cost of ambulance service for an illness; however, ambulance service for students enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Program can have ambulance service for accidents at NO CHARGE.

Hospitalization: The Health Service is an outpatient facility. Arrangements can be made by UHS staff (if you need to be hospitalized for non-emergencies). If you need to be hospitalized, UHS staff will make arrangements for appropriate physician services and hospitalization.
