Corporation and Foundation Clearance Lists

Procedure for Coordinating Funding Requests of Corporations and Foundations

 

 BACKGROUND

This procedure is specific to UTHSC and is designed to enhance efficiency and coordination of UTHSC requests, applications and other funding interactions with corporations, corporate foundations, and private foundations.

RESOURCES

The clearance lists found on this page catalog corporations and foundations with which UTHSC and the University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) have an active or previously active relationships and therefore, need campus-wide coordination. These lists are segmented into philanthropic donors and sponsored program grantors. They are updated bi-monthly.

PROCEDURE

The procedure is as follows:

• UTHSC departments and personnel seeking external funding should initially review the “Corporation and Foundation Clearance Lists” provided on this page to determine if conversations with UTFI or UTHSC are warranted. Reasons for conversation include, but are not limited to, understanding of:
  1. current funding or strategic approaches already in progress
  2. recent knowledge gained that can be shared
  3. procedures for approach and approval process
• After reviewing the lists, if a corporation or foundation (C or F) of interest requires clearance before submitting a request or application, please contact the appropriate person at UTFI or UTHSC as identified at the top of the list.
• If the C or F is not on the clearance lists, direct contact is encouraged. As a relationship develops and possible funding is secured, the UTFI designee should be notified. The C or F will be added to the clearance lists for future tracking and compliance.
• The lists should be checked each time there is interest in securing external funding from a C or F; the list is updated bi-monthly.
