Mission Statement

The brain remains the final frontier of biology. While science has made remarkable progress across the life sciences, our understanding of the brain—consciousness, cognition, and nervous system disease—remains incomplete.

Neuroscience is in a period of rapid discovery, driven by new tools and interdisciplinary research that are transforming how we understand brain function and disease, and opening new paths toward treatment.

At the Neuroscience Institute at UT Health Sciences, we build on this momentum to advance discovery.

Our Mission

The Neuroscience Institute at UT Health Sciences aids discovery and understanding of the brain and nervous system by supporting multidisciplinary research, education, and training among research faculty, trainees, and clinical collaborators.

We support neuroscience research by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration through research cores, seminar programs, symposia, and institutional support structures.

We support education and training in neuroscience by developing and sustaining the next generation of neuroscientists, researchers, and clinicians through graduate training, postdoctoral support, mentorship, and educational programs.

We aim to communicate the impact of neuroscience research by engaging the community, translating discovery into improved human health outcomes, and increasing awareness of the importance of neuroscience.
