    National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders. ANAD operates a free counseling hotline for eating disorder victims and support groups for sufferers and their families. It includes sites created by government agencies, universities and not-for-profits, health-related journals as well as contact information for health organizations.
  • Medscape.com - is a very comprehensive and useful website for medical
    information. It provides CME courses, interactive "exam room" interesting cases, including "EKG of the week." It has free access to thousands of Medscape articles as well as drug and disease specific information. It also serves as a search engine for several medical databases

  • The World Health Organization (International Home Page) - This site allows you to select a variety of connects sites that provide epidemiological information from other parts of the world. It also has links to many other areas such as mental health, infectious diseases, traveler's health, etc.
  • British Medical Journal - BMJ puts out twice a year the publication "clinical evidence" which reviews the current literature on many topics (from infectious disease to mental health disorders to CHF...). They present the studies in a concise form and critique the study designs. They include information on the relative risk, odds ratios, control group, sample size, etc. This publication can be viewed on the website along with other ways to review the medical lit. Clinical evidence is an excellent way for providers to quickly stay current on many common illnesses/diseases. It also links to pubmed and Medline search pages.

  • Tobacco Information and Prevention Sources (tips). Provides information on tobacco addiction, related diseases, tobacco industry documents and links to other sites related to tobacco.

    The site is based on the character Joe Chemo, an anti-smoking parody of Joe Camel. The site is highly interactive and allows visitors to test their "Tobacco IQ," get a personalized "Smoke-o-Scope," and send free Joe Chemo E-Cards. There is also extensive information for teachers, anti-smoking activists, health care providers, journalists, and smokers who wish to quit.

Women's Health

  • www.4collegewomen.org - A health Web site for college age women developed by students for students, is launched by Brandeis University. The first of its kind, the portal provides a rich trove of trustworthy and noncommercial health information, assembled by students based on the vision and with the supervision of Dr. Susan Blumenthal, M.D., a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Brandeis and U.S. Assistant Surgeon General and an expert in e-health and women's health.
