Memphis Campus Open Wednesday, January 17

View this message in its original email format.

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

Your safety is our top priority. Regardless of whether or not campus is open, we encourage you to always exercise judgment based on your specific circumstances about traveling to and from campus.

That being said, after reviewing weather forecasts and road conditions, we have made the decision to open the Memphis campus of the UT Health Science Center for regular business hours on Wednesday, January 17

The recent snow fall and frigid temperatures have created treacherous driving conditions and appropriate precautions are highly recommended. Although campus is open, the potential for ice can create difficult travel to and from the campus, along with problems navigating around campus. Again, please exercise your judgment about traveling to and from campus.

To the extent practical, employees are encouraged to work remotely and/or consider moving meetings to Zoom/Teams, providing the option for colleagues to attend meetings virtually. Supervisors are encouraged to be considerate and accommodating of employees. Employees may take leave as needed and/or work remotely where practical and approved by the supervisor.

Students need to work with their respective faculty members regarding any class accommodations.

Upon return to campus, please examine your work and classroom areas for leaks, water intrusion, or other signs of weather-related building damage. Report building issues to Facilities Administration:

  • Emergency issues should be reported by calling Facilities Administration at 901.448.5661
  • Emergency issues outside of normal business hours should be reported by calling Campus Police at 901.448.4444
  • Non-emergency issues can be entered through Archibus

For the latest information, faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to visit the University website at uthsc.edu, and look for messages via UTHSC Alert, our emergency mass messaging system for campus closures.

We will continue to update the campus community of any material developments. Please take appropriate precautions and stay safe.
