Services for Students with Disabilities
The nature and scope of services is based upon the documented need of the student as it relates to the specific curricular expectations of individual courses, as well as those services that are needed to provide equal access to the educational experiences at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
If a student has a documented disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, they may be eligible to receive accommodations. A student is considered disabled when they have, are regarded as having, or have a history of an impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities (learning, thinking, concentrating, reading, etc.).
All services and accommodations will be provided only with appropriate documentation that has been verified by the disability consultant. Once approved for services, students receive appropriate and reasonable accommodations which are based upon the nature of an individual’s disability and documented needs.
