AMWA is an organization of more than 10,000 women physicians and medical students
dedicated to serving as a voice for women's health.
AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE (ASRM)
The ASRM is an organization devoted to advancing knowledge and expertise in reproductive
medicine and biology.
ASSOCIATION OF AMERICAN MEDICAL COLLEGES
AAMC mission is to improve the health of the public by enhancing the effectiveness
of academic medicine. To this end they have links for Medcareers, ERAS, Frieda, and
other sites for medical students to use as they decide on an eventual career choice.

FREIDA ONLINE
FREIDA Online is a database containing information on approximately 7,500 graduate
medical education programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate
Medical Education (ACGME), as well as on 200 combined specialty programs. The site
provides statistics summarizing training in each specialty and subspecialty. Current
information about the marketplace for new physicians is also available. Specifically,
FREIDA displays the results from AMA surveys of recent GME graduates about their employment
seeking experiences.
MARCH OF DIMES
This sites specializes in information regarding pre-pregnancy and pregnancy, birth
defects, genetics, drug use and environmental hazards and related topics.
SOCIETY FOR MATERNAL-FETAL MEDCINE (SMFM)
The SMFM is a society of maternal-fetal medicine sub-specialists and others who are
dedicated to the optimization of pregnancy and perinatal outcomes. We are obstetricians/gynecologists

AGENCY FOR HEALTHCARE RESEARCH AND QUALITY
This site gives examples of research projects currently underway and completed on
topics concerning conditions especially important to women.
HEALTH RESOURCES AND SERVICE ADMINISTRATION (HRSA)
The HRSA provides national leadership to increase access to primary and preventive
health care for those who are medically underserved. HRSA's education and training
activities, community-based health services, and research incorporate the unique needs
of women and girls with a view that health is a life-span issue, and that race, ethnicity,
culture and socioeconomic factors along with other life experiences must be considered.

This site has vital statistics for 1998, the Healthy People 2010 database, and other
national statistics.
NATIONAL GUIDELINE CLEARING HOUSE
This is an Internet web site intended to make evidence-based clinical practice guidelines
and related abstract, summary and comparison materials widely available to health
care professionals. It is operated by the US Dept. of Health and Human Services.
NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH (NIH)
NIH is the largest source of funding for medical research in the world, creating
hundreds of thousands of high-quality jobs by funding thousands of scientists in universities
and research institutions in every state across America and around the globe.
NCI ATLAS ON CANCER MORTALITY
This site is an interactive version of the atlas which allows users to create customized
maps.
UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT FUND FOR WOMEN (UNIFEM)
This organization is working for women's empowerment and gender equality. Has a section
entitled "A World Free of Violence Against Women" and Women's Human Rights.
WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION
The WHO makes recommendations about international nomenclature of diseases, causes
of death and public health practices. It develops establishes and promotes international
standards concerning foods, pharmaceutical and similar issues.
