Title: Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship
Description: The fellowship provides research support for clinical investigation, basic laboratory
research, epidemiology, or social science/health services research for first-, second-,
and third-year students.
Time commitment: 8-10 summer weeks, or 4 hours/week for 12 months over a period of 1-2 years
Deadline: mid-December
Stipend: $5,000

Title: Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship
Description: FAER created the Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship to encourage talented
medical students to consider careers in anesthesiology research and perioperative
medicine. The MSARF program offers first-, second- and third-year medical students
an 8-week summer anesthesia-related basic science or clinical research experience
and the opportunity to present research findings at the American Society of Anesthesiologists
Annual Meeting."
Time commitment: 8 summer weeks

COM Research during M3 and M4 Years
Title: The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene
Description: These are fellowships offered for students who are interested in tropical medicine
or infectious disease research projects. If you have a research idea, apply for financial
support through the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. See also the
Benjamin H. Kean Travel Fellowship in Tropical Medicine, a fellowship designed to
support medical students involved in clinical or research electives in tropical areas.
While it is most often awarded to fourth year medical students because their schedules
are flexible, first year students with a free summer and students in other years who
can travel for at least a month are encouraged to apply.

Title: CDC Epidemiology Elective (EEP)
Description: The EEP program trains third- and forth-year medical students in applied epidemiology,
public health, and global health. Students learn by hands-on experience and mentorship
by CDC subject matter experts. This program offers assignments during 6- or 8-week
rotation periods largely based at CDC in Atlanta, Georgia.

Title: NIH Clinical Research Electives
Description: "The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers a variety of short-term clinical
rotations and research elective opportunities designed to provide advanced training
in basic science, translational research, or clinical research, to highly qualified
