Transfer Admissions
Applications for admission with transfer are considered for entrance into year three of the curriculum [only] as space in the third year class permits. Transfer applicants must:
- be residents of Tennessee at the time of initial medical school enrollment
- meet all entrance requirements expected of applicants into the 1st year class, including having taken the MCAT
- successfully complete the basic science curriculum at a medical school accredited by the [LCME] Liaison Committee On Medical Education and be in good academic standing
- pass step one of the [USMLE] United States Medical Licensing Examination, prior to matriculation
- submit a letter from the Dean or Associate Dean at the medical school [approving the transfer] and submit two (2) letters of recommendation from faculty instructors who taught you as a student, i.e., a total of three (3) letters of recommendation. These letters should be sent directly to the College of Medicine Admissions Office.
- provide evidence of circumstances necessitating a transfer
- appear for a personal interview
Transfer applications will be forwarded to eligible applicants via e-mail. The deadline for submitting a transfer application is April 1st.
