Department of Occupational Therapy
The mission of the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is to guide students in integrating academic knowledge, community engagement, and clinical experiences, with the goal of graduating outstanding practitioners who are committed to leadership and evidence-based practice.
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center Occupational Therapy Department offers two degree options, a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and an Occupational Therapy Doctorate.
The UTHSC Occupational Therapy Program was initially accredited as a Bachelor of Science Program and graduated its first class in 1990. The program transitioned to a Master’s Degree in 2007. Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions as occupational therapists.
The UTHSC MOT program now subscribes to the Occupational Therapy Centralized Application Service, known as OTCAS. Applicants for the entering class need to apply online using the OTCAS application. The early admissions cycle deadline is September 1, and the deadline for the standard admissions cycle is November 1. To learn more about the OTCAS application process and to get started, please go to the OTCAS website at www.otcas.org. Once processed, the Admissions Committee looks forward to receiving your application.
