Application Process

Application Deadline for the Master’s in Occupational Therapy is September 1st for early admissions and November 1st for standard admissions. Applications must be completed online. Visit OTCAS to apply.

In order to qualify for admission into our program, we require shadowing hours under a licensed OT or OTA or completion of an online occupational therapy (OT) shadowing experience course.

For in-person shadowing, applicants must have a minimum of 40 hours across two different settings. Please see link below for Observation Verification forms that can be used to document your hours. *Applicants are not required to use our forms if the facility has their own form. Please make sure observation documents include the name of the facility, number of hours, and signature of the supervising OT/OTA.

If applicants choose to complete the online shadowing modules described below, they must submit a screenshot of their certificate of completion.

The interactive 6 module course provides an overview of the various settings where occupational therapists work and explains the philosophy and process of OT. Within each module, there are slides that contain specific questions with prompts such as “answer the following questions” and “complete assignment.” You are not required to answer the questions or complete the assignments. The goal for completing the course is for you to become familiar with the information presented so that you gain a better understanding about the role of occupational therapy practitioners with individuals across the lifespan. The link and password for the online OT shadowing course will be available on OTCAS when you are completing application. If you would like to complete the shadowing course prior to accessing OTCAS, please send an email to uthscot@uthsc.edu and request the course link and password.
