Health Informatics and Information Management

Since 1954, the UTHSC College of Health Professions Health Informatics and Information Management program has been preparing graduates with the skills and competencies needed to manage the increasingly complex environment of electronic health care.

Offering two tracks; entry-level and post-graduate—the UTHSC HIIM program is 100 percent online, allowing working professionals the flexibility to acquire their degree when and how they desire. Students learn skills in:

  • Lean Six Sigma for health care quality improvement
  • Database design and SQL skills with Oracle
  • R programming for data analysis and visualization
  • Effective leadership
  • Medical vocabularies
  • Healthcare information systems

The College’s accreditation for the master’s degree in Health Informatics and Information Management has been reaffirmed through 2022.
