Resident Life
Life as a Dermatology resident at UTHSC blends rigorous clinical training with a supportive, collegial environment where residents learn, grow, and thrive together. Our program is known for its strong sense of community, approachable faculty, and the balance it offers between high‑volume clinical exposure and a healthy life outside the hospital.
Residents train across multiple clinical sites in Memphis, gaining experience with a wide range of dermatologic conditions and patient populations. Along the way, they build lasting friendships, celebrate milestones, and enjoy everything the city has to offer.
A Close‑Knit, Supportive Community
Dermatology at UTHSC is intentionally small, which creates a warm, collaborative atmosphere. Residents support one another through challenging rotations, share tips and resources, and celebrate each other’s successes. Faculty are deeply invested in resident education and mentorship, creating an environment where questions are welcomed and growth is encouraged.
Residents often describe the program as a place where they feel known, valued, and supported — both professionally and personally.
