Campus COVID-19 Precautions
August 12, 2020
Faculty, staff, and students,
As the campus is in full swing of the "new normal," I want to communicate with you
about our measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on campus.
- I want to compliment and thank everyone on our current adherence to masking and social distancing guidelines. These have been shown by studies to be the most effecting tools we have in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
- Masks are required at all times on campus except when instructed to be removed by faculty for training purposes or when in an eating or drinking area. When in an eating or drinking area, please pay attention to social distancing to prevent COVID-19 spread. When in a private room on campus and you are alone, masks are also not required.
- Recent studies have shown that most gaiters (pull up neck scarves) are much less effective in preventing COVID-19 as compared to actual face masks. Therefore, we have stopped the distribution of gaiters on campus and want everyone to know these do not meet campus mask guidelines.
I want to thank everyone for what they are doing to keep our campus in full operation
as we carry out our mission to educate the next generation of health care providers
and scientists.
