OB/GYN Chattanooga

Overview

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga offers a comprehensive 4-year program with 4 positions offered at each PGY level. Our residency program and graduate medical education institution have a major affiliation with Erlanger Health System -- the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, Perinatal Center, and tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Both the Obstetrics and Gynecology services are extremely active, with approximately 6000 deliveries and more than 5000 gynecologic procedures each year.

Academic faculty members work with the residents daily, along with an additional volunteer faculty who supervise residents across both obstetrics and gynecology curriculums. Academic faculty members represent the areas of General Obstetrics & Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Urogynecology. All faculty practice primarily within the Erlanger Health System, such that 24 hour in-house faculty supervision of residents is established.

Residents are actively involved with faculty in clinical research, basic science research, and patient safety and quality improvement projects. Research is further supported by research staff supported by the UT College of Medicine. Our residents have several articles in publication and have presented at national and international conferences.
