The Center for Health System Improvement supports regional health system improvement through:

Health Systems Research to determine the effectiveness of innovative health system improvement interventions to improve human health. The Center focuses particularly on pragmatic clinical research to evaluate innovative uses of health information technology, lay community health workers, and community-based health resources to improve the delivery of essential health services to underserved populations.

Public Education to inform the public regarding critical community health needs, healthcare quality, efficiency, cost, and high-value health care through the provision of periodic reports.

Information Sharing among consumers, providers, and health plans regarding how healthcare organization, financing and delivery methods affect health system performance in order to foster regional health system improvements.

Our Mission

The mission of the UTHSC Center for Health System Improvement is to improve health and health care in the Mid-South region by supporting interdisciplinary health systems research, evaluating innovative regional health and health care quality improvement efforts, championing patient-centered outcomes research, and promoting sustainable community-driven health system change.
