What is It?

A 12-credit hour online non-degree program designed to provide initial clinical research skills and training to healthcare professionals, with additional training in Health Disparities or Health Behavior Intervention.

Who Should Enroll?

Junior faculty, fellows, other healthcare professionals and research-oriented individuals, who are not in a degree program, who seek initial training in the methods and skills to conduct clinical research, but whose schedules may not accommodate traditional, classroom-based courses.

What Courses are Offered?

The Certificate program includes the following online courses:

Fall Semester

  • Principles of Epidemiology (3 credit hours): BIOE 727
  • Biostatistics for Public Health (3 credit hours): BIOE 720 

Spring Semester

  • Fundamentals of Clinical Investigation (3 credit hours): BIOE 750
  • One of: Introduction to Health Disparities: BIOE 729 or Health Behavior Intervention: BIOE 728

These online, self-paced courses are moderated by experienced research scholars within the College of Graduate Health Sciences' academic-year schedule of fall and spring semesters. Students will need at least two semesters to earn a certificate if they follow the recommended plan for two courses in the fall semester and two courses in the spring semester.

The minimum cumulative GPA needed for successful completion of the Clinical Investigation Certificate Program may be no lower than a GPA of 3.0.
