The Department of Preventive Medicine plays a critical role in advancing the University’s educational mission by:

1. Offering a Master of Science in Epidemiology

The Department offers a 36-credit hour Master’s program designed to provide in-depth clinical research design, measurement and analysis skills.

The program includes three tracks:

2. Offering a Certificate in Clinical Investigation

The Department offers a 12-credit hour online non-degree program designed to provide initial clinical research skills and training to healthcare professionals

3. Teaching in the Undergraduate Medical School Curriculum

We teach the following topics in the curriculum for medical students (M1- M4 classes):

  • Preventive Medicine
  • Epidemiology
  • Biostatistics
  • Nutrition
  • Genetics (Genetic epidemiology)
  • Critical Review of the Medical Literature

These topics are covered in different formats (lecture, small group, Team Based Learning, or journal club) depending on the specific course or year in the medical school curriculum.
