Facts and Figures

Each year, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness prepares a Factbook that contains data on enrollment and student demographics, along with information on the UTHSC faculty and staff.

Economic Impact

In addition to its locations in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga and Knoxville, UTHSC has more than 100 clinical and educational sites across the state. According to a study conducted in 2014, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center contributed $2.7 billion to the state's economy in the fiscal year 2013, making UTHSC a major contributor to the economic well-being of Tennessee.

Campus Master Plan

The UTHSC campus of the future will have at least 15 new buildings to meet expanding academic, research, clinical and support needs. It will also have improved pedestrian and bicycle routes, better traffic flow, more parking, well-designed green spaces and landscaping, prominent signage, 10 renovated buildings, and updated housing options.

The improvements are part of a Campus Master Plan designed to enhance UTHSC's stature as an urban academic medical center and secure its spot as the nucleus of the evolution of the Memphis Medical Center district.

Strategic Plan

In January 2014, UTHSC Chancellor Steve Schwab presented the strategic plan. Its goal is to position UTHSC as a national leader in targeted areas of excellence across missions, campuses and colleges.

As a part of its 2014-2018 strategic plan, UTHSC is pursuing an aggressive plan to grow its research portfolio. Each quarter the UTHSC Office of Research publishes a newsletter about ongoing research news.
