Behavioral Therapy
Behavioral therapy programs are provided by psychology and social work at the CDD. All treatment programs involve in-depth parent counseling and training regarding the child's condition as needed.
Psychology
Treatment approaches vary based on the needs of the child and family. Cognitive behavioral therapy and a family systems approach are the most frequently implemented approaches, including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Further intensive behavioral therapy and positive behavioral supports are appropriate for many children and families.
Social Work Therapy
Individual psychotherapy, family therapy, parent counseling, marital counseling, crisis intervention, and sex education are available. Education and training programs for relatives are also provided. Group work with siblings utilizes play and other activities as therapeutic media. Play therapy is used with children.

Appointments, arranged at the convenience of the therapist and family are set up by the appointment secretary. For further information about scheduling therapy, contact the CDD Admissions Office, CDD, 711 Jefferson Avenue, Memphis, TN 38105.
