Counseling

The office of Student Academic Support Services and Inclusion (SASSI) offers counseling to students enrolled at UTHSC.

  • Students can be seen for counseling for any issue. There is no issue too small or too large.
  • SASSI has trained and licensed counselors who are equipped to aid students in addressing challenging issues experienced while enrolled in school.
  • SASSI is committed to maintaining a confidential, and nonjudgmental space for students so they can be successful in a stressful environment.
  • Counseling records, by law, are kept confidential and separate from educational records.
  • Students can schedule an appointment with a counselor Monday–Thursday between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • In the event of a crisis, someone is available by phone after hours.
  • Students are eligible to receive unlimited sessions per academic year as needed.
  • A standard counseling session is 45-50 minutes in duration.
  • To maximize your time with your counselor, please come to your first session with the required documents completed. These documents can be emailed to the counselor prior to the first session with CONFIDENTIAL in subject line.
